‘Mary Poppins Returns’ is set in 1930, in the London of the depression era (the time of the original novels) and has been extracted from the rich material that make up the seven other books of P.L. Travers.
In the story, Michael (Whishaw) and Jane (Mortimer) are already older, and Michael, their three children and their housekeeper Ellen (Walters), live on Cherry Tree Lane. After Michael suffers a personal loss, the enigmatic nanny Mary Poppins (Blunt) reappears in the life of the Banks family and, along with the optimist Jack (Miranda), uses her magical abilities to help the family rediscover the Joy and fantasy that are missing in their lives.
